Until acclimatised high temperatures and high humidity can be debilitating. Clothing should be loose and lightweight with high moisture transfer. In a high humidity jungle environment these features help make constantly damp clothing tolerable if not comfortable. Clothing should also help protect against insects and other animal life. Shirts with long sleeves are sensible and trousers should be corded or tucked into boots.
